The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the United States,
Nicolae Chirtoaca, will make a working visit to Mount Olive,
the state of North Carolina, on March 20, 2008.
While at the Tillman School of Business of Mount Olive College,
His Excellency will make a presentation on Moldova – North
Carolina partnership in the context of Moldovan – American
bilateral relations and partnership, addressing a diverse
audience of students and faculty.
The program of the visit also includes meetings with representatives
of Chambers of Commerce, business community and economic organizations,
as well as representatives of the local Government.
The bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Moldova
and North Carolina takes place in the framework of the Memorandum
of Intentions, signed in April 1999, and the Memorandum on
Bilateral Cooperation, signed in December 2004.

On
March 9, 2008, the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Washington,
organized a cultural event dedicated to the celebration of
music Festival “Martisor”.
The
activity took place at the “Goethe Institute” in Washington,
D.C., and was attended by more than a hundred of Moldovans
living in the United States, members of the group “Friends
of Moldova”, Peace Corps volunteers, as well as representatives
of various international and government agencies.
The
event consisted of several activities with a view to inform
the public about the legend and the spirit of this holiday,
including recitals of poems and dancing. The guests had the
possibility to taste traditional Moldovan wines and food,
offered by the Embassy.
Organization
of this event for the second year in a row allowed the Embassy
to further consolidate relationships inside the Moldovan community
in the US, as well as to promote a positive image of the country
and local products with an export potential on the North American
market.

On the 14th of October 2007, in Washington, D.C., the American
non-governmental charity organization „L’Ordre du Lévrier
Blanc”, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of
Moldova in the United States, organizes a fundraising reception
aimed at supporting the “Project Moldova” implemented by this
agency in our country since 2002. Within the framework of
this event, an auction of carpets made by Moldovan leading
manufacturers will take place. The obtained funds will be
used exclusively to finance further the follow up of this
project in Moldova.
The main goal of this project is to sponsor special training
courses for Moldovan orphans offering them the possibility
to learn how to work with textiles, wood, ceramics, various
metals, etc. The organizers invite individuals, institutions,
private organizations and other agencies that are willing
to assist Moldovan children in getting jobs and promoting
traditional Moldovan crafts, to attend this event and contribute
to the implementation of this project in our country.
Moldovan wines will be served at the reception and are offered
by the joint Moldovan-American company “Graystone Wine Imports
Inc.”, one of the sponsors of the event.
The reception will start at 4 PM at the Goethe Institute

Business Briefing on Moldova at the Moldovan-American
Chamber of Commerce in New York
On Friday, June 01, 2007 the Moldovan-American Chamber of
Commerce in New York organizes a business briefing with the
participation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova
to the United States of America Nicolae Chirtoaca. Ambassador
N.Chirtoaca will make a presentation on the current economic
situation and the investment opportunities in Moldova.

Moldova’s wines at the 4th Annual Wine Auction
On May 19th 2007, the Rotary Club of Washington DC held its
forth annual wine tasting and auction event at the French
Embassy, which was aimed to raise funds in support of its
charity projects, and to familiarize the participants with

Ambassador Nicolae Chirtoaca visits North Carolina.
In
period March 23 – 25, 2007 Mr. Nicolae Chirtoaca, Ambassador
to the United States of America, made a working visit to North
Carolina. The working agenda begun with the meeting of the
Moldovan diplomat and Mrs. Elaine Marshall, State Secretary
of North Carolina, which took place in the capital of the
state, Raleigh. During the meeting subjects such as development
of the bilateral collaboration within the Partnership for
Peace between Republic of Moldova and North Carolina in the
economic, cultural, scientific, academic exchanges, health
protection, providing of humanitarian assistance were discussed.

Celebration
of "Martisor" and Eugen Doga's 70 years anniversary
in Washington DC.
On
March 03, 2007 at the Cultural Center Goethe in Washington
DC took place the celebration of “Martisor” and Eugen Doga's
70 years anniversary. The event was organized by the Embassy
of Moldova and the Moldovan community from the East of USA.
The goal of this cultural event was to promote the beautiful
Moldovan tradition of spring coming, celebrate the birth of
Eugen Doga, as well as to strengthen the patriotic spirit
and cultural connection between Moldovans and their home country.

The national exhibition - “Made in Moldova”.
The
6th annual edition of the national exhibition “Made in Moldova”
will take place on February 07 – 12, 2007 at the international
exhibition center “Moldexpo” in Chisinau. The event is organized
with the support of the Government of Moldova under the motto
“Moldovan brand – European quality”.
The main goal of the exhibition is to contribute
to the implementation of the Government’s Activity Plan for
2005 – 2009 “The modernization of the country – the welfare
of the people”, of the Strategy for Attracting Investments
and Promotion of Exports and the Moldovan Village National
Plan. The event aims at developing the quality of the national
products and promoting the Republic of Moldova’s positive
