Information about the offices of USA secretaries of state can be found at the following address - http://travel.state.gov/about/info/customer/customer_312.html. Additional information regarding the Apostille procedure within a specific office of the Secretary of State has to be enquired at that particular office. Generally, the requests for an Apostille stamp can be sent by mail or submitted personally.

We would like to underline that the Consular Section of the Embassy of Moldova to Washington DC doesn’t participate in the above-described procedure. Therefore, do not send your documents to the Consular Section. The documents issued in USA will be valid in Moldova upon their confirmation with the Apostille stamp. These rules don’t apply for documents issued in Canada.

The Apostille stamp is being affixed based on the provisions of the Convention abolishing the requirement of legalization for foreign public documents, concluded at Hague on October 05, 1961. This Convention has entered into force for the Republic of Moldova on March 16, 2007. The Hague Convention which is also known as the Apostille Convention facilitates the circulation of public documents executed in one State party to the Convention and to be produced in another State party to the Convention. For additional information regarding the applicability of the Convention please visit the following web-page - http://www.hcch.net/index_en.php?act=conventions.text&cid=41.
